Should hydrogen-filled airships return? Do they fill an economic niche, a point on the Pareto frontier of objective safety, price, and speed? What if jet fuel prices increased a lot?
Hydrogen does not seem significantly less safe than jet fuel in terms of ways an aircraft can catastrophically fail.
Helium I suspect will never be economically feasible.
