Curiously, upon a single woman is directly heaped shame in promiscuity, but if married, the shame is instead assigned to the husband, and society disregards the wife.
Old custom, or still in effect? Seems to be related to the idea that the husband owns the wife. It seems slut shaming doesn't happen to a woman no longer on the market for marriage.
If the husband is OK with it, e.g., open marriage, then no harm no foul socially? I think there still remains a small amount of stigma of open marriage. What about open relationships not marriages?
Logically, if a woman wishes to be promiscuous but avoid the bad social consequences, one would expect she would quickly find a husband for an open marriage. Is this happening, or are some other forces stopping it?
