Luck (not hard work) may be an important factor of success in this modern world.
If you look at anyone's life closely enough, you will discover some crime. Only a small percentage of crimes are caught. Whether you get caught depends on luck. Those who get caught suffer permanent loss of reputation and opportunities.
Money can buy privacy. With privacy, you are less likely to be caught or successfully prosecuted for some crimes.
Thus, money can buy success. The rich get richer; income inequality increases.
How can this mechanism be fixed? Is it even a problem? (How can this mechanism be measured?)
