In addition to the techniques that all humans have of achieving success, power, and wealth (e.g., hard work, intelligence, perseverance, etc.), women have particularly available the additional tool of sex appeal.  Success is often a result of people working together, so needing network connections, and sex appeal could serve as an introductory mechanism for forming those connections.

I assume the situation is not symmetric but could be wrong.

Speculate that society has evolved mechanisms for nullifying that advantage to keep women in their place, for example, shame in promiscuity.
