[nouhjesj] Does fusion research circumvent the ban on nuclear weapons testing?

Understanding fusion experimentally gives useful information for designing thermonuclear weapons.  Inspired by, inertial confinement fusion seems very far from becoming a economically viable energy source, but it acquires vast amounts of funding under that guise.  But compressing deuterium-tritium with X-ray radiation pressure and producing a bunch of neutrons seem extremely relevant immediately to weapons research.

Are the scientific results of fusion research classified?  How classified?
