For a virtual simulation of a Rubik's cube, keyboard is probably the best interface. Key sequences can be rapidly repeated in the style of finger tricks, or algorithms can named and invoked as a programming language. Undo could be easy with backspace. Possibly remap keys so they correspond better with the geography of the cube.
