[nsgcojej] Empathogen

Certain recreational drugs, famously MDMA (ecstasy), induce a feeling of connection with other people. Assuming the role of society is to prevent people from feeling connected, then this effect of a recreational drug is more disruptive to society than any other effect of any other recreational drug.  Predict therefore that empathogenic drugs will be the most tightly regulated.  (Though this a prediction seems to be false.)

Given that the biological function of MDMA can be investigated chemically, it seems tantalizingly possible that society itself can also be investigated chemically: Will two people naturally get along? Measure their brain chemistries along the pathway that MDMA would modify.

Are empathogens effective date rape drugs?  One would expect a feeling of connection helps sex. (But this prediction also appears to be false.) If not, why not?

What is the effect of empathogens on partner dancing, especially the follower's role, in which, for some, the most difficult aspect is to mentally let yourself be lead, to be mentally connected?  Given the popularity of ecstasy at music events, this has almost certainly been informally investigated.
