Many sites (Google, Twitter (via t.co ), facebook), rewrite URLs that users click on to go through a redirect, so as to be able track to who clicks on what.
This strikes me as extremely dangerous, akin to being able to discover who checks out what books at a public library (which might be legally protected by freedom of speech).
To what extent have such companies handed over identified redirect records to authorities as part of a subpoena, or even voluntarily?
