Geraldine Kelley murdered her husband John T. Kelley, stuffed his body into a chest freezer, and left it stored unplugged at Planet Self Storage in Somerville for 10 years. No one found out until her deathbed confession.
The fascinating thing is no one cared about John T. Kelley's disappearance and informal death story (he died in a car accident) enough to make authorities start investigating, even for official paperwork like a death certificate. You'd think it'd be a little harder to get away with murder, but it apparently isn't if no one cares about you.
What percentage of the U.S. population could be the victim of another such murder where no one comes asking questions? Is it one in a million? Or 10%? That is, what order of magnitude? The depressing thought is there exist a positive number of people for whom literally no one cares if they die.

It could be quite possible this man chose to disappear and be forgotten
