[fdyyxrjg] Connected squares

The standard vision of a universe constructed out of a grid of squares (or cubes, like minecraft).

The next elaboration: adjacent pairs of squares may be linked with arbitrarily labeled links.  With this, any structure can be constructed.

Instead of an infinite grid, one can limit to a 2x2 grid, but into higher and higher dimensions (2x2x2x...).

I'm not sure where I'm going with this.
