Frames per second, sometimes abbreviated lowercase fps. Pedantically, it ought to be f/s, or even just Hz. But f s^-1 would be confusingly similar to fs^-1 meaning "per femtosecond", or petahertz (PHz).
First Person Shooter, never abbreviated lowercase. Ought to be 1PS, similar to 3LA instead of TLA for "Three Letter Acronym".
Curiously, the two concepts are often present in the same genre: one very often cares about frame rates in first person shooter games. Are their other examples of two meanings for the same acronym in a same field?
EMF: Electomotive force; Electromagnetic fields. Though the latter is mostly used by the woo woo crowd.
AC: HVAC people might care about alternating current and air conditioning.
ECC: computer scientists discussing transmission of information might care about error-correcting codes and elliptic curve cryptography.
DRM: Programmers of video playback software on Linux might care about the Direct Rendering Manager and digital rights management (digital restrictions management).
