[fxvrazhb] Computers as durable goods

With so much computing moving to the cloud, we (again) enter a world in which one's physical computing device could be constructed as a durable good, expected to last and be useful for 10 years or more, e.g., VT100 terminal, or more realistically, VT520.  What needs to change to increase longevity of electronics?  E.g., cheaply replaceable batteries.

Inspired by 40-year-old hair dryer, still working fine.
