There exists a social class that can be described as, even best described as, "This kind of person will never be elected President". Characterize this class.
There are many African-Americans in this class, but there are also many white people in it as well. As Obama demonstrated, it's not strictly about race.
It's something about someone whom people don't trust, don't respect, don't perceive as influential, possibly perceive as ignorant.
Having characterized it, create a demographic category for it, count the size of its population, where they show up in things like the labor force, education system, crime statistics, spouse selection, where they live, the rate at which they are victims of police brutality.
Why hasn't this been done already? Possibly a blind spot in American politics which tries to promote the idea that everyone is born equal.
