[urfjnxiu] CSI changing the world

Previously, we hypothesized entertainment cannot change the world because it only gives people what they already want.  We had assumed that changing the world, or, more specifically, changing people, requires changing what those people want.

However, the TV series "CSI" has been accused by prosecutors of changing the legal system: jurors are expecting the impossibly high standards of evidence and the fictional forensic procedures as depicted on the show, and returning acquittals when they don't get that.

Nevertheless, "what those people want" is a justice system that avoids false convictions: CSI gave that to them, and they are acting in the real world, in juries, according to what they want.  It remains an interesting mechanism, though.
