Would smartphones be more usable and responsive if they offloaded their computation to a server and acted as a thin client?  Particularly interpretation of Javascript heavy webpages. At the end of the day, there's no way a mobile phone can match the computational capability of an AC powered computer with cooling.  Perhaps when using your phone in your house, with a very high bandwidth low latency wireless connection to a personal server.
