Can the cost of building skyscrapers be brought down by a lot? I'm imagining robot constructors. Skyscrapers are assumed to be good as they are dense and efficient.
We specifically want to decrease the tall-specific aspects of cost that nowadays contribute to the greater than linear increased in cost of a building with respect to its height. I'm guessing things like electrical wiring and interior decorating are the same regardless of the height, so aren't economic impediments of building a skyscraper versus a wide, low building.
Tall slender buildings seem more likely to fall over, but this could be mitigated by building tall, wide, pyramid-like structures. Probably need coordination with city planning to build structures with such a large footprint. One could imagine the skyline of a city, currently vaguely pyramid shaped already with the tallest buildings near the dense center, being replaced with a single giant pyramid.
Many internal rooms will have no windows, but modern advancements in efficient lighting may be making this less of a problem. We also need ventilation.
