[tlpxiivs] Transparency about diplomatic threats regarding Snowden and Assange

What is the content of the diplomatic negotiations going on between the U.S. government and foreign countries whom the U.S. wants to thwart from granting political asylum to Edward Snowden or Julian Assange?

Rumor is of trade threats.

Is this question answerable by a FOIA request?  I think a strong case can be made that the American people have a right to know, as such negotiations may negatively affect private business, family, and friend relationships with those in the other country.

Interestingly, one could file a FOIA (or equivalent) request in both countries and correlate the answers to see whether the responses are truthful.

Inspired by the story of significant U.S. meddling in the Swedish prosecution of Pirate Bay.

If not FOIA, we are in need of another whistleblower.
