Gauss wanted a heptadecagon inscribed on his tombstone. However, a heptadecagon looks too similar to a circle. Better would be a 17 pointed star (as was done at the Gauss Memorial Monument at 52.27196,10.522647).
Of all the 17-pointed stars that can be formed by connecting non-adjacent vertices, which is the most elegant? Not too spiky, not too round.
