[fuyxfnvm] Distributed computing as botnet infection detection

You install a distributed computing application (e.g., SETI@Home).  The application helpfully informs you if your production has gone down, which might signal that your computer has been infected with malware and is being used for intensive computation by a botnet (perhaps Bitcoin mining?).

Key point is the monitoring is done by an external, hopefully clean system.  The communication back could be hacked, though.

Sort of like tracking your car's gas mileage to detect if there is something wrong with it.
