Would a government subsidy to ISPs who offer IPv6 to their customers (or a rebate directly to customers who use an ISP who offers IPv6) accelerate its adoption? Or are there other technical or political hurdles which will cause the subsidy to be ineffective?
Widespread adoption of IPv6 has a network effect (pun!) of being good for society as a whole, so it is well within the government's perogative to encourage it.
It need not be a national government subsidy; state and local governments could do it, too.
