I'm glad to see Selectable Output Control rejected by the FCC (for now). But what is the complete list of other consumer devices and products that are currently illegal to build or sell under the justification of "industry protection"? Or are crippled or taxed in some way (defective by design)?
This is not about manufacturers voluntarily building defective-by-design products to "protect" themselves (e.g. game consoles), but one industry special interest creating government laws and regulation to impose its will on another manufacturer prohibiting it from building a product that consumers would want to buy.
Our own government is being subverted by special interests to make life difficult for the consumer.
If this list were to exist, it may serve as a focal point to mobilize consumers ("Gee, I wish I could buy such a product") into overturning the regulations that were making it illegal to build.
