[vvxtwnwn] review of "iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test, Model ICO-3000"

this is a free test kit was ordered through the USPS, delivered around March 2022, thanks Joe Biden.  these comments are in order of decreasing importance, not in chronological order of doing the test.

the liquid is harmful, seriously harmful.  here are the warnings printed in the instructions:

Triton X-100 / 9002-93-1: "Causes skin irritation (H315)", "Causes serious eye damage (H318)"

Proclin 300: "Causes severe skin burns and eye damage (H314)", "May cause an allergic skin reaction (H317)"

however, the liquid gets on one's fingers when opening and closing the small white cap, after which point accidentally transferring it into the eyes is quite possible.

when done dipping the swab, the instructions say to place the swab back into its packaging (presumably to prevent the harmful chemicals still on the swab from getting on yourself and other surfaces).  however, in order to do this, one needs to not have peeled open the swab packaging completely, but instead opened it as little as possible.  the instructions do not say to take care when opening the swab wrapper.

despite tapping the vial on a surface before opening it as directed in the instructions, there was still bubble or drop at the tip after opening the small white cap.  it's then unclear how many of the three drops were from the solution with the sample.

several steps require three hands:

one hand to hold the swab, having just collected a sample, two hands to unscrew the large orange cap.

two hands to put the swap back into the package, one hand to hold the open tube.

packaging box was sealed with a circular clear plastic sticker, but the sticker was not centered on the gap, so did not keep the box shut.

mitigations:

do the test near a wash station so you can wash your hands afterward.  perhaps wear disposable gloves.  be sure not to touch your eyes or other skin.

have available some sort of holder to hold things in the steps requiring 3 hands.  perhaps a disposable holder to hold the swab is best.
