[ryarmtqr] nature inheriting human technology

suppose humans go extinct and nature inherits the earth.  but nature does not inherit a natural earth; it inherits an earth littered with the remains of human technology.  will any organism exploit our technology?  will any evolve intelligence fast enough to do intelligent things like read our books before time destroys all the cool stuff?

(previously on nature having to recover from whatever caused human extinction.)

organisms might enjoy waste heat from our abandoned nuclear reactors and other nuclear waste for a very long time, like underwater geothermal vents.  will they figure out how to (safely) restart reactors?
