if (when) global thermonuclear war happens, the end times will be a combination of fire, ice (nuclear winter), and disease (radiation poisoning). (how much of each?)
curiously, all of these scenarios, even their combination, had been imagined long before the invention of nuclear weapons. on one hand, it's amazing that pessimistic human imagination can be so far ahead of its time. on the other hand, the scenarios are not difficult to imagine, as small-scale end times have happened often.
