[jjiraemr] Medicine and scale

The larger the population, the more it becomes worth it to research treatments for conditions which are either rare or merely annoying: Spend half a trillion dollars developing a treatment that improves by (only) $1/person the average productivity of a population of a trillion.

We may yet get a cure for the common cold.

This becomes an argument against population control.
