Consider some method of broadcasting to your social network where you plan to be. We assume solved the thorny problem of who can be trusted with this information. Possibly also broadcast where you are.
Would this be useful? The imagined scenario is if you do not show up where you announced you would be. Your social network can more quickly know something might be wrong and take action. Accidents while traveling, or kidnapping.
The usefulness probably depends on what actions the social network can or is willing to do in response to you being missing. Not showing up might be too little information to decide what to do. A person might already know who is willing and able to take action and choose or have chosen to contact them directly instead of broadcasting.
