Android apps lack a standardized method to get information about the app, analogous to the "About (application)" menu item in Windows and Mac. Debian (and Ubuntu) Linux has "dpkg-query -p".
It is possible to look up the app on Google Play Store, but that requires network, only returns information about the latest version, not the version currently installed, and of course fails if the app did not come from the app store.
Author, author contact information, website, bug reporting path, and most interestingly, a link to source code.
