On every quarter note beat, the note can be delayed from 0 to 3 sixteenth notes, or perhaps better as -1 to 2. Assuming the beat can be established by some other mechanism, we can encode information in rhythm in base 4, two bits per beat. Can a human parse it? At what bandwidth? (Previously)
