[pldijvyk] Danger of powerful social institutions

At first thought, we would prefer social institutions rather the law enforcement to prevent crime, for example decreasing the social class boundaries to lessen hate and crime between the classes.  It seems gentler.

However, in general, powerful social institutions able to affect people's lives and behavior are themselves potentially dangerous, subject to abuse with little or no ways of controlling their power.

We wish to avoid the difficulty of classifying which social goals are "good", as that varies by culture, even among the many cultures that exist within the governed society.

Motivated by trying to prevent terrorism by examining its social causes.
