Assuming time is no issue, do we have the technology and knowhow today to get a space probe to, say, the Andromeda galaxy? It is OK if it takes a billion years or more to get there.
We would need precise locations and velocities of nearby stars to perform a gravity-assisted escape of the Milky Way galaxy.
