The crime-fighter has the gift of omniscience, but unfortunately mere omniscience is inadmissible in court. So the super-hero uses omniscience to hunt down evidence (in otherwise extremely difficult crimes) which may be used in court, but is beset by difficulties both mundane and villainous.
There's no way Sherlock Holmes could be that smart. Explain it away by saying he has super powers.
