[llciuglg] Looking at global internet activity to predict things

Imagine you have access to everything (say) Google knows.  Given an event in the world, use machine learning to train a classifier to recognize the precursors to that event: email was sent between such and such, a certain query came from such an IP address, the same cookie was seen here then there.

Having trained the algorithm, use it to predict future events.

This power could be used for tremendous evil, violating privacy.  It is unsettling to imagine what Google can do, or whoever has access to that information, e.g., subpoena, or Google voluntarily turning over information in hopes of political gain.
