Starting with sociological studies of maximum tribe sizes, it would be easy to jump to the conclusion that humans were just not meant to live in cities, surrounded by so many strangers.
But then why haven't things gone horribly wrong in dense cities such as Hong Kong or New York or Lagos?
Perhaps it still has not reached the catastrophic packing density. I'm imagining like nuclear criticality. People are not yet forced to intimately interact with strangers all the time: the walls are still holding.
