[mgklvtpo] Rice cooker

You'd think it'd be easy to find a rice cooker that runs Linux, has a web interface, and sends you email or a text message when your rice is done.  It seems the kind of thing the Japanese would invent.  But no such thing exists: even the most fancy ones (who ironically pride themselves on their technology) are quite primitive in terms of computing.

Why not?  What are the market forces dictating innovation?
