[inaddobo] Parenting avoids monoculture

Many parents raise many children in many different ways.  (Institutionalized schooling, baby books, etc., dilute the effect.)

Of course, it results in heterogeneity in society, and people not getting along.

Whether the parent did a good job or not depends on how the future will turn out.  Raising your child to be John Connor will be very sad for the child unless some very unlikely events occur, but if they do, it will be the best thing in the world.

Is there a way to share the risk?  Income redistribution.

How can we induce the optimal mix of children types?  What is the optimal mix?  It depends on a measure of social risk aversity.
