Create a gentler version, go 囲碁 club, dedicated to the same purpose. Two people have a conversation while putting pieces on the board. The conversation is the important part; the pieces are placed without a lot of thought. There's also the pun "hand conversation". A nice pattern develops, but it's just scenery. It's an excuse to get together.
Go, born from a Buddhist tradition, seems extremely suited for a game whose point is beyond the game itself. Modify the rules very slightly so the game never ends: Zen Go. There is no score.
