Yoda says, "Do or do not; there is no 'try'."

Contrary to popular belief, this does not mean the bullheaded mentality "Failure is not an option", nor that a half-hearted attempt ("try") is doomed to failure.

It means to plan for both contingencies -- for all contingencies.  The totality of your action encompasses the outcome.
