[fyzddfxo] Drug legalization as a measure of society

Step 1. Legalize drugs. Step 2. Measure how much drugs people consume per capita, as a proxy for an otherwise very difficult-to-measure but important social statistic: the degree of dissatisfaction with one's life, the need to "escape", so much that one resorts to drugs.  Consider different social policies and how it affects drug consumption.

Similarly: Step 1. Legalize pornography.  Step 2. Measure how much, and what kind, people consume as a proxy for an otherwise very difficult to measure measure of sexual repression or frustration or defects in sexual education.  In particular, if vast amounts of child pornography are consumed, reflecting a vast desire previously masked by its illegality, it would suggest something is very wrong with how we are raising our kids, something we would otherwise not realize.  ("Blame Canada!")

Historically, of course, it is always good to look at a historic culture's pornography to understand them and what they were into.  Apply the same analysis to ourselves.
