People who have earned their fortunes through morally questionable means, becoming rich at the cost of hurting society, but who wish to make amends by donating back to society in philanthropy, ought to donate anonymously so as not to confuse people into thinking they are a role model to be followed -- if fact the opposite: the cost of their damage to society probably exceeded what they will donate -- the world would be better off had they not been born.
