What happens to conflict diamonds? Ideally, market pressures would prevent them from being mined in the first place, but I doubt it. I'm guessing there is an elaborate laundering process by which they get smuggled into a "clean" diamond stream. One of the steps might be the ironic smuggling of diamonds into a diamond mine. And diamond mine administrators would quietly look the other way, for it means more profits for them.
