when the last game of the season, probably the championship game, goes into overtime (extra innings, etc.), the season is a little bit longer than usual. when has this happened?
if the last game is part of a best of N series, it needs to be game N: the series itself has gone as long as possible.
baseball World Series: 1912, 1924, 1991, 1997, 2016.
Super Bowl: 2017.
NBA finals: 1957, 1962.
future post bccrjwsd: highest drama in sports.
or, calculate the time elapsed between the start of the first game of the season to the end of the last, ignoring special relativity's impossibility of simultaneity. need to research time zones, leap seconds, daylight savings, when the games actually started and ended (as opposed to scheduled), and broadcast delays.
