Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's split from the British royal family due to not getting along with them is surprising, because interpersonal conflicts can frequently be solved by throwing money and resources at the problem, and the royal family certainly has immense resources that normal people don't: for example, they can literally put disagreeing parties into separate palaces. previously similar, on celebrity divorces.
several possible explanations:
- royal family has less resources than it seems, or their resources are narrowly earmarked by Parliament, and not enough was available for solving this kind of problem.
- resources were spent on covering up the problem instead of trying to solve it, which actually made things worse.
- the royal-family handlers or staff who were supposed to deal with this kind of problem were incompetent (related to 2, above). perhaps power got concentrated over the years into a very small number of people, and it therefore only took a small amount of incompetence for things to royally go wrong.
- anti-royalists engineered 1, 2, 3. the royal family fighting amongst themselves, looking less respectable and dignified, counts as a political win.
- Prince William and Kate Middleton have produced enough heirs to the throne that Harry's branch can be discarded, so deliberately not much effort was made in keeping them happy. them leaving is fine.
- this is all part of a secret plan for the royal family ("frenemies") to increase influence in North America, perhaps to annex the USA, to put down that rebellion (which occurred just a short while ago in the context of the history of the British empire).
