At first glance, it seems uncanny and perhaps shocking how similar Pizzagate is to Jeffrey Epstein's alleged crimes. However, Pizzagate was wrong in one key aspect, its claim that only Democrats were involved. But that was Pizzagate's key aspect, because the point of Pizzagate was to discredit Democrats. That's why the conspiracy theory spread like wildfire (among those who opposed Democrats).
From a somewhat cynical viewpoint, everything else about Pizzagate is not really that surprising for the conspiracy theorists to have "called it". Of course there are prostitution (and sex-trafficking) rings, and of course there are prostitution rings catering to the wealthy. Ephebophilia (the prosecutor says Epstein had photographs of girls as young as 14) is a pretty common disorder, perhaps not even a disorder by some definitions, so of course there are prostitution rings catering to ephebophiles.
In retrospect, hopefully the conspiracy theorists feel a bit silly in believing that a prostitution ring (or any service) catering to the rich and powerful, operating under the covert protection of the rich and powerful, would limit itself to just one political party.
