Does chess have any non-transitive structures within the game? Like Rock Paper Scissors: Strategy A does well against strategy B, B does well against C, and C does well against A.
d4 is good at preventing the Sicilian. King's Indian Defense is good against d4. e4 is good at preventing the King's Indian. Sicilian is good against e4. (Inspired by the openings of Fischer.)
Queenside counterplay is good against kingside attack and vice versa.
Do all good games have non-transitive structures?
