Can the Red Sox please choose a new name which does not endorse and glorify the hated Republican party (or Communist Party)?
Of course, the baseball team's affiliation with the color red was chosen long before the color took on its present negative connotation. However, the present negative connotation is real, so it can be argued that teams of the present must adapt to culture and norms of the present.
Similar arguments are being made about the Cleveland Indians or other Native American mascots, where the meaning has changed over time, again because of politics.
