Despite Adrian Schoolcraft's earlier statements that he would take his cases to trial in order for the truth to come out, he settled. Enumeration of possible reasons why:
- He ran out of energy or interest (which overlaps with some of the possibilities below).
- He ran out of money (which would be a shame, given public interest in seeing the case go to trial and the truth come out).
- He was coerced by his own lawyers, who are risk averse and prefer to settle.
- The truth he wanted to see get out he saw got out without a need for a trial.
- He has become convinced that the truth he wanted to see get out will never get out, even at trial.
- He has been coerced to settle by the opposition, namely the NYPD.
The last two are sinister. How might they be done?
