Create a editable compendium of knowledge similar to Wikipedia, probably a fork, but with the explicit author philosophy of, "We think this topic is awesome, and we want you to think so, too." This explicit goal of what defines a good article may help resolve the editing conflicts that currently plague Wikipedia.
The philosophy has been successfully deployed in subject-specific wikis such as those for TV shows, or Tvtropes.
Probably drop the proscription "Wikipedia is not a textbook", because a textbook style might be the best way to engage the reader, for certain topics.
