Person A interviews person B, trying to find out "Will B hurt me?", perhaps for employment or spouse selection. There are many mechanisms, both action and inaction, by which B could hurt A, but they are all magnified by whether B is contemptful of A. Characterize where contempt occurs in society: it will probably reveal social class divisions. Characterize how that contempt already exists before two people even meet.
