[pddwuowd] Rational recreational drugs

Hypothesize that people use recreational drugs for rational reasons.

People whose environments and resources, most prominently social environments, are unable to provide certain needed brain / psychological stimuli resort to recreational drugs as a substitute. Inspired by the Rat Park experiment.

If true, then direct efforts to keep people off drugs, perhaps by restricting supply, or punishing those who do do drugs, are not going to improve their quality of life.
