Normally humans continue to do a certain behavior only if there is punishment for straying away. (The punishment could be removal of positive feedback.) Are there any exceptions? Are there mechanisms in which people keep doing some sort of learned behavior without any feedback?
If so, we would expect to see all sorts of puppeteers vying for access into such mechanisms in people: once you program a person, they'll be hooked for life, without need for continual reinforcement.
Obviously addiction.
Other possibilities, possibly false: Trying to build "character". A person forming, defining, or maintaining their identity.
